Better than the ACA: Real Healthcare Reform for 2014
Pippa Abston, MD, PhD will discuss the failures of our current healthcare system and why they are unlikely to improve with full implementation of the ACA. She will provide research data demonstrating how private insurers fall short in meeting our needs and how the ACA encourages them to game the rules to their advantage. The ACA is a massive profit windfall for private insurers, handing over public money to shareholders and corporate executives instead of using it to provide medical care. Even with all the money spent, it will still leave at least 31 million of us out in the cold with no insurance at all.
Every other developed country has a better system. There are several alternatives to the ACA, all of which are superior in terms of cost, access and quality. NAHA supports Improved, Expanded Medicare for All-- everybody in, nobody out. We will leave plenty of time for questions at the end of the talk.
